Calculux Road is a specialized lighting design and calculation tool for roadway and street applications. It helps lighting designers and engineers model road layouts, select luminaires, and evaluate performance against common road-lighting criteria. The software calculates key metrics such as luminance, illuminance, uniformity, glare (TI), and surround ratio, and can check compliance with standards like EN 13201 and relevant CIE recommendations. It supports typical roadway arrangements—single-sided, opposite, and staggered—along with adjustable parameters such as pole spacing, mounting height, overhang, and tilt. Projects can use standard photometric files (e.g., IES and Eulumdat), and results are presented through point-by-point grids, contour plots, and printable reports suitable for submittals.

Key capabilities:

  • Roadway lighting simulations for single and multi-lane layouts, including medians and sidewalks
  • Calculation of luminance/illuminance, uniformity, TI glare, and related quality metrics
  • Arrangement and spacing optimization for poles and luminaires
  • Standards-based compliance checks (e.g., EN 13201/CIE)
  • Use of standard luminaire photometry (IES, Eulumdat) and generation of concise, professional reports

Typical users include consulting engineers, municipal planners, and lighting designers seeking to verify roadway lighting designs quickly and reliably.

Calculux Road is developed by Philips Lighting B.V. and is used by 1 user of Software Informer. The most popular versions of this product among our users are: 7.2, 7.4, 7.5, 7.6 and 7.7. The name of the program executable file is cro.exe. Works with cro file type.

We require lighting for pathway of width 5 meters using Philips to make MH luminaries for length of 1200 meters. Hence, we require a calculator.
